It probably sounds obserd to most people, but I adore the taste of a country, a taste which triggers memories and images in the mind. Tarte au citron, to me, tastes of France. Over this blog you'll realise that I am completely obsessed with France and all I really want to do is move there, it will happen in time. For now, I will keep making such desserts as tarte au citron so I am able to taste my dreams.
I am not a fan of pastry, making it that is as it always goes wrong and it still took two attempts with this, but on my second attempt I was so happy with it's smoothness and not to be (too) big headed but it was pretty perfect and I felt quite happy with myself.
This is what happened on my first ever attempt at making tarte au citron.
(Check out the old French tarte tin I picked up from a local antiques shop, took a good hour to get all the rust off!)
I completely forgot about my camera as I got just a little into the process, I should include a photo of full on concentration pouting face that happens when I'm baking. The pastry is perfect but the lemon cream, I think I may have kept on the hob a little too long when warming it through so it's not as smooth as it should be but it still taste amazing, especially with fresh pouring cream and a handful of raspberries!
